In order to renew a particularly badly damaged water pipeline in the Moroccan capital Rabat, trenchless construction proved to be the only alternative. For NODIG technology, the work in the historic Takadoum district did not present an insurmountable challenge. The compact GRUNDOBURST 400S pipe bursting system was just right for the underground renewal of the dilapidated water pipe in a pedestrian walkway that was only 1.20 m wide and only accessible via stairs.
Extreme caution was required under the old walls and narrow alleys: Massive earth movements had to be avoided, otherwise the slope with partly dilapidated houses threatened to collapse. With the GRUNDOBURST 400S, the old concrete water pipe could be replaced with new PE pipes without even a stone rolling.
